The Altavista Arts Council promotes and develops artistic and cultural programs for youth and adults in the community, and with providing coordinated methods of support for such programs in the following categories:
The council works closely withares schools to provide cultural activities for students of all ages.
The council has formed a book club for adults. The adult book club meets on the second Wednesday of each month, 7:00 p.m., at the Avoca Museum.
The council is committed to promoting visual art throughout our community. Hanging art displays at the Town Hall and YMCA Athletic Center display the art and photography work of local citizens. A reception, with light refreshments, is held on a Sunday, 2:00-4:00pm so that the community has an opportunity to meet with the artists. Most work is available for purchase.
The council strives to provide concert performances by musical performers and groups that appeal to people of all ages. See Avoca Calendar of Events for details.
The YMCA/Arts Council is pleased to offer movies to the community as part of the Vista Flix program. Movies are shown on the lawn at Avoca and at various locations throughout the year.
We have just finished major renovations throughout the YMCA! All new Keiser equipment, updated wellness center flooring, handicap accessible door, just to name a few. Come take a tour, ask questions, and join the YMCA family!
Attention Members: Beginning October 8th and continuing every Tuesday we invite you for a fun gathering of a childhood game of BINGO. It will be held in the Multi-purpose room from 11am to noon.
