We are a charitable community nonprofit organization and when you support the Y, you help make our communities stronger and help the “us” who live here realize the power of their full potential. By donating to the Y, you can help us reach more people in need with our programs and services. Contributions to the Altavista Area YMCA fall into three categories: capital contributions, endowment giving, and annual contributions. Tax Information: We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Our tax identification number is 54-0895639. Contributions to the Altavista Area YMCA are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

As cause-driven, not-for-profit organization, the YMCA is able to fulfill our mission of enhancing the spirit, mind and body of all through the generosity of our members and donors. To be able to serve ALL will take us all. Our commitment to community is what will enable us to keep serving others, and what keeps us showing up for one another. We know we cannot do this work alone.

Annual Giving 

The annual Current Support Campaign helps offset operating expenses. Income from this campaign is part of the operating budget. Money can be designated to a particular program.

Memorial Gifts

Many times the Altavista Area YMCA is suggested recipient for memorial gifts. Gifts can be designated for a specific purpose or part of the annual charitable giving program.

Capital Campaign

Donations are made for specific capital improvement, construction project or a major equipment purchase. The YMCA seeks funding to help offset the costs . Contact Steve Jester, Director of Development for more information.
