About the Y

Since 1971, we have been a community leader in child development, wellness, sports, aquatics, families, and seniors. The Y believes that, in a diverse world, we are stronger when we are inclusive, when our doors are open to all and when everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, & thrive. At the Altavista Area YMCA, all are welcome.

Athletic Center

Gymnasium, wellness center, Play & Stay, indoor track, racquetball court, group exercise room, locker rooms, conference room, multi-purpose room and administrative offices.

Family Center

Indoor- 25 yard swimming pool, child development program for children 6 weeks – seventh graders, playground for the children’s program and tennis courts.

We are a charitable community nonprofit organization and when you support the Y, you help make our communities stronger and help the “us” who live here realize the power of their full potential. By donating to the Y, you can help us reach more people in need with our programs and services. Contributions to the Altavista Area YMCA fall into three categories: capital contributions, endowment giving, and annual contributions. Tax Information: We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. Our tax identification number is 54-0895639. Contributions to the Altavista Area YMCA are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
