Adult Recreational Activities
At our Athletic Center, we offer pick-up basketball games, pickleball and racquetball! We also offer group fitness classes, line dancing and martial arts, as well as water fitness classes at the Family Center.
Youth Sports & Activities
At the Y there is so much for youth to participate in. There are team sports such as soccer, swim team, basketball and more. We offer something year round for kids of all ages. The E.R. English Scholarship is available to those who qualify.

- Location: English Park
- Boys and girls may register for all camps now.
Fall Sports Registration
- Registration Dates: June 25 – July 31
- Registration may be extended by one week if needed to fill openings.
- Registration Costs: Unless Specified $65 members and in-town residents, $75 non-members who live out of town.
- Once registration is underway, roster caps will be established for each age group and registration will close when divisions are full.
Volleyball (Ages 7–14)
Ages 7–8

- Approximately 3–5 games
- Focus remains primarily developmental

Soccer (Ages 4–18)
- U6: All games played at English Park
- U8: Dependent on registration numbers; expected to be entirely in-house at English Park
- U10–U18: Home games at English Park with away games in Campbell County and possibly Appomattox
- Rec Coaches Needed: If you are interested in coaching, please email us, call us, or indicate your interest during registration.
- New This Fall – U10 Academy Program: Open to eligible players from previous U8 and U10 Recreation Programs. Cost is $150. Players must attend and pass a tryout before registering. More information coming soon. For tryout information, please contact Eric Hall or Jason Hall.
- U11 & U12 Club Teams: Players who attended tryouts, received a formal invitation, and accepted their invitation may now register for their respective club team.
Softball (Ages 4–12)
- U6 (Sweeteez):
- Goal is to have enough players for an in-house YMCA league.
- If registration supports four teams, games will be played entirely at the YMCA. A tee will be used as part of development, but coaches will pitch to players.
- If registration numbers are lower, teams will play against Rustburg, Timberlake, and Brookneal. Some travel will be required, and a tee may or may not be used during games.
- This division remains developmental regardless of format.
- U8–U12: Goal is to field at least one team in each age division. Teams will travel to Rustburg, Timberlake, and possibly Brookneal, with additional games against Amherst and Appomattox as schedules allow.
- Important: Under Dixie Softball rules, all players are required to wear a defensive face mask during play.

Ongoing Activities at the Y
- For Y members only, Pick Up Basketball Tuesday and Thursday Nights from 6-8 pm. Adult Pickup Basketball will stop from December 2025 through February 2026 for youth basketball.
- Adult Pickleball is available in the evenings on Monday and Friday from 6-8 pm. Beginning in December, Adult Pickleball will be Monday and Thursday nights on court two from approximately 7:30 – 8:45 pm.
